Refund & Cancellation Policy

We want every client relationship to start and end with clarity. This policy explains how refunds and cancellations work across our service categories.

1. One-Time Services (Business Launch Package, Tax Returns)

Before work begins: If you cancel before we have started work on your engagement, you are eligible for a full refund of our service fee.

After work begins: Once our specialists have started preparing your documents, filings, or returns, fees become partially refundable based on the work completed. We will provide a clear breakdown of completed work upon request.

After filing or delivery: Once a document has been filed with a government agency or a completed deliverable has been provided to you, the service fee is non-refundable.

Government and state fees: Filing fees paid to state or federal agencies (such as the state LLC filing fee) are charged by the government, not by SCS, and are non-refundable in all cases once submitted.

2. Monthly Retainer Services (Bookkeeping and Virtual CFO Plans)

This applies to The Ledger, The Momentum, The Command, The Navigator, The Blueprint, and The Empire plans.

  • No long-term lock-in: Our retainers are month to month. We earn your business every month through the quality of our work.
  • Cancellation notice: You may cancel any monthly plan with 30 days written notice via email. Your plan remains active, and we continue delivering, through the end of the notice period.
  • Current billing cycle: Fees for the current billing cycle are non-refundable once the cycle has started, since our team begins work at the start of each cycle.
  • Prepaid periods: If you prepaid for multiple months, unused full months after your notice period will be refunded.

3. Transition Support

If you cancel a bookkeeping or CFO engagement, we do not hold your data hostage. We will:

  • Provide all completed financial records, reports, and reconciliations for paid periods
  • Transfer ownership or access of your QuickBooks or Xero file to you
  • Offer reasonable handover support to your new provider

Your books belong to you. Always.

4. Service Issues and Corrections

If a deliverable contains an error caused by our team, we will correct it at no additional cost. We stand behind our work. Errors resulting from incomplete or inaccurate information provided by the client are not eligible for free corrections or refunds, though we will always work with you to fix them fairly.

5. How to Request a Refund or Cancellation

Send your request to [Insert Email Address] with your name, business name, and service details. We respond to all refund and cancellation requests within 3 business days. Approved refunds are processed to the original payment method within 7 to 10 business days.

6. Exceptions

Refunds are not available in cases of:

  • Chargebacks initiated without first contacting us to resolve the issue
  • Violation of our Terms of Service
  • Requests made after the timelines described above
